Q: When I try to connect a window pops up asking for my username and password again. When I fill it out and hit enter, it just pops back up. What am I doing wrong?

A: This happens when what you have entered doesn't match what we have on our authentication server. Entering capital letters in either your username or password usually causes this. You need to enter your username and password in lower case letters, so check to see if your caps lock is on, on your keyboard. Another possible cause is mistakenly adding @ruralnetwork.net after your username. This is your email address and won't work as your username.

NOTE: If you are experiencing these symptoms when attempting to connect to the 947-1180 modem bank, try changing to our Weiser numbers:

    414-5600 for 56K Connection
    414-1611 for 33.6 Connection

The message on the 947-1180 number regarding your username and password is simply ELI's error message (from whom we lease these lines) -- it basically means that those lines are busy. If, after changing to a 414 number, you are still having problems please call us at 208-414-3000 or 888-355-4767.

Q: I typed the wrong password and username on my account for RNS during installation. How do I change it?

A: Enter the correct password and user name in the connection window. Once you successfully connect to RNS the new settings are automatically saved.

Make sure all of your other windows are closed. Then go to start and shut down your computer. Wait for a minute and turn your computer back on. Double click on Internet Explorer and connect. You should beable to surf now.
