How to Configure Zoom DSL routers in modem (bridged) mode.

Please Note: This answer is for our Newer X3, X4, or X5 modems with an "A" in the serial number, or our unit models that start with "56xx"
 ( i.e.:  nnnn-nnnn-nn-nnA-nnnn ) - or - ( i.e.:  nnnn-56nn-nn-nn-nnnn )

These instructions explain how to configure the Zoom X3/X4/X5 for 1483 Bridged LLC with Bridge mode enabled:

  • Access the Zoom modem’s web console entering the address 10.0.0.2 in your web browser.  The default User Name and Password are:
    • User Name = admin
    • Password = zoomadsl

Note: The default User Name and Password must be typed in lower case letters

The Basic Setup page appears. Click on the Advanced Setup icon.

  • Click WAN Configuration. The WAN Configuration page appears. Make the following changes:
    • Encapsulation: 1483 Bridge LLC
    • VPI: 0  (or set to your providers specific setting)
    • VCI: 35  (or set to your providers specific setting)
    • Bridge: Enabled

Note: Make sure your VPI and VCI are set properly as per your Provider's specs.

  • Click Save Changes and then Write Settings to Flash and Reboot.
  • After the modem is rebooted, click Advanced Setup again.
  • Click DHCP. The DHCP Configuration page appears.
  • Change the DHCP Mode to None.
  • Click Save Changes and then Write Settings to Flash and Reboot.

Once this is done the modem will be in full bridge mode allowing you to configure your LAN side router or firewall with static IP's provided by your ISP or enable DHCP if your Provider supports this.
