Linksys WRT54GL
Change Internal Network
Internet Explorer 7.0
This is a good security practice, as it's that much easier for an intruder to compromise your network if the default gateway is used.
It also may be necessary in order to use a Linksys router in conjunction with an older ZyXEL DSL modem or router.
(The ZyXEL 642M/R and 645M/R both used a default internal 192.168.1.X network, also the default of the Linksys.)
Open your Internet browser.
Go to this address: http://192.168.1.1 (Or the current address of your router if you changed it.)
At the login prompt, enter the following information: User Name: Password: admin (Or the current login information if you changed it.) Click OK to continue.
Change the Local IP Address to another private IP address.
Click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.
When the "Settings are successful." message appears, click the Continue button.
Exit your Internet browser. Click on the Start button and go into the Control Panel.
Double click on Network Connections.
Locate the icon for network card that you have connected to the Linksys router.
Right click on it, select Disable.
After a moment the card's icon will turn grey and its status will change to Disabled.
Right click on it again, select Enable.
When its status is listed as Connected the procedure is complete.
